Common Green Darner (Anax junius)

About

I became interested in photography in college. I learned how to shoot sports, develop the film and make prints for the college newspaper. Several decades later I picked up a new camera, a digital one. Amazing new equipment with an immediate image to feast your eyes upon. No waiting at the drugstore for two weeks for the pictures to come back. No hours in the darkroom with the smelly chemicals and safelight bulbs.

The image was right there. Delete this one, keep that one…start again. But what should I shoot? What was my passion? It bugged me until I realized it was bugs. Big, small, colorful or drab brown, they are beautiful. In my old age, I grew into my BUG period.
